Erma Marion Evans of Philadelphia PA, went to be with her Savior on Saturday, December 12, 2009. Erma was 63.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Marion Daniel Evans and Eileen Grace Evans (Long). Erma spent her teens and early adulthood under the foster care of the late Eckley Gearhart and Alice Gearhart of Philadelphia, PA.
Erma grew up in northeast Philadelphia and graduated from Frankford High School. For over 40 years Erma was a resident of the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. She worshiped her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Hope Lutheran Church.
Erma excelled in her profession as a clerical worker for Publicker Industries and Rite Aid. Erma retired from Rite Aid in 2007 after nearly 30 years of dedicated service.
In doing God’s work, Erma was called to motherhood upon the death of Eckley and Alice, taking custody of the love of their life Danielle Karen Gearhart. For more than 40 years Erma affectionately provided Danielle with love, guidance, and maternal care. In 1992 Erma welcomed Terrance P Rowley Jr, as a son-in-law. In 1996 Brendan William Rowley was born providing Erma with a grandson.
Erma’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, December 19, 2009, from 9:00 am until her funeral service at 11:00 AM at St. Petri-Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6816 Jackson Street, Philadelphia, PA 19135. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 North High Street, Columbus, OH. 43214 or, the American Diabetes Association, the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church / Abington, PA, 19001 / Within the narthex/foyer of the church, one will find a memorial plaque commemorating the interned. A memorial garden is situated on the parking lot side of the church.
