He was born in Deggendorf, Germany on February 26, 1949. He lived in Chattanooga for 29 years. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Navy.
Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly Townsend, Mary Akins; sons-in-law, Frank Watkins, all of Chattanooga, Jon Hatchett, Fort Payne, AL; grandsons, Tory Bonner, Thomas Hatchett, Maxwell Hatchett, Cortney Watkins, Donovan Savoy; granddaughters, Arianna Standard, Cierra Jade Akins all of Chattanooga; brother, Robert Akins; sister, Christine Chandler; a host of relatives and friends.
A visitation will be from 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, followed immediately by a 1 p.m. graveside service at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
