He was born March 7, 1950, in Bellefontaine, the son of Kenneth and Gwendolyn Watkins Southard.
Surviving with his parents are three brothers, Roy of West Liberty, and James and Donald of Bellefontaine; and three sisters, Mrs. Philip (Sandra) Cooper of Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. Rex (Eileen) McColloch Jr. of here and Vickie Lynn at home.
A member of the United Methodist Church at Walnut Grove, he graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1968 and entered the service last year, receiving basic training at Ft. Jackson, S.C.
Arrangements are incomplete at Eichholtz Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.
