"Kay “Katie” Diane Childs, age 79, of Webster, passed away suddenly on June 14, 2019.

Katie was born on April 12, 1940, in Granite Falls, MN, to parents, Esther (Kirschbaum) and Anthony Forest. She graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1958.

On March 30, 1963, Katie was united in marriage to James “Jim” Childs.
Katie liked to spend time outside tending her beautiful flower gardens. She also liked painting and art, quilting and yoga classes at Lakeside Community Lutheran Church and traveling. Katie loved being a grandma and spending time with her grandchildren and her beloved companion dogs.

Preceding Katie in death are her parents; beloved husband of 50 years, Jim; sisters: Donna (Mentor) Johnson, Elaine (Arfield) Oie and Darlene (Glennis) Meier; and brother, Laverne Forest.

Katie is survived by her sons, James and John Childs; grandchildren: Hunter, Dylan, Connor and Taylor; brother, Boyd (Patricia) Forest; sister, Linda (Tom) Bentzen; sister-in-law, Betty Forest; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life for Katie will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019, at 11:00am (visitation from 10-11:00am) at Lakeside Community Lutheran Church in Webster, with Pastor Bill Schroeder officiating. Interment will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner."
