She was born in Amsterdam on May 12, 1927 a daughter of Benjamin and Margaret Burke Thackrah and was a 1945 graduate of St. Mary’s School in Amsterdam. Betty was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Crawford was employed in the housekeeping department at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital before retiring in 1989.
After retiring, she became a certified home health aide.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Broadalbin.
Betty was an avid swimmer and enjoyed swimming three days a week. She loved gardening in her flower beds, cooking, and always found joy in sharing with her neighbors. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to visit her son when he lived in California.
Betty was a member of the Broadalbin and Perth Senior Citizens and was a very active and loving person.
She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved watching her great-grandchildren grow up.
Survivors include a son, Thomas (Barbara) Crawford of Austin, TX; a daughter, Annette Crawford Murdico of Saratoga Springs; two sisters, Eleanor Stevens and Virginia Stahl, both of Amsterdam; three grandchildren, J.B. Murdico, Lynette Coppola, and Kristin Silver; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady.
A graveside service will be held at St. Basil’s Cemetery, Broadalbin.
