Fred H. “Mitch” Mitchell, 73, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in his home.
He was born September 11, 1944, in Chicago, IL, to Donald and Juanita (Holmes) Mitchell.
Mitch was a manager for Ridge Auto Parts, La Porte, for 25 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR to see his favorite race car driver, Kyle Larson. He also enjoyed gardening, being in nature and visiting with his children.
On November 25, 1996, in La Porte, Indiana, he married Barbara J. (Griffith) Mitchell, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Paula (Tom) Torpy of Warsaw; step daughter, Jaime (Tom) Salas of Michigan City; step son, David (Christine) Klinedinst of Elkhart; seven grandchildren, Devin, Braxton, Adriana, Blake, Alana, Saige and Reece; and one great grandchild.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Cremation will take place. A celebration of his life will be held from 1p.m. until 4 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the family home, 911 Wright Ave., La Porte, Indiana 46350.
