Fred Earl Baker of Cadillac passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Munson Healthcare's Cadillac Hospital. He was 98.

Fred was born on November 28, 1920 to Herbert and Agnes (Wright) Baker. He grew up and attended school in St. Johns, Michigan, and was a member of the 1939 graduating class.

Fred proudly served his country with United States Army Air Corps as a Technical Sergeant during World War II.

He worked with the Michigan Sheriffs Association from 1963 until 1996.

He could often be found at Tippy Dam or Portage Entry, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, fishing or at Olga Lake, hunting. He was proud to show anyone and everyone how to properly fish the rivers. Fred was a proud member of the American Legion and a member and supporter of AA for more than 50 years. He will be remembered for his love and compassion for others.

Fred is survived by his wife, Judy Baker of Cadillac; his children, Martha (Marc) Dubois, Herb Baker, and Julie (Richard) Johncock; stepchildren, Bob Mitchell, Chad (Holly) Isanhart, Jason (Toni) Isanhart; his sister, Joann (Paul) Martis; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 35 nieces and nephews, along with their spouses and children; as well as many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva N. Baker; his parents, Herb and Agnes; and his two sisters, Yvonne McCurry and Ardis Haviland.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday July 12, 2019 at the Mt. Pleasant Community Church, located at 1400 W. Broomfield, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858, with visitation one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to either Alano Club of Lansing or Cadillac. Contributions may be mailed in memory of Fred to Alano Club East, 220 S. Howard St., Lansing, MI 48912 or Cadillac Alano Club, P.O. Box 925, Cadillac, MI 49601.
