Former department store owner Frank Remick, the father of actress Lee Remick, died at his home. He was 73.
'He had an influence on me by always giving me encouragement, just by being a terrific father,' Ms. Remick said in a 1979 interview.
'He was always fair. He was very willing and eager to listen to me and my brother, never with a closed mind. That is what makes for a really good parent.'
Ms. Remick's parents were divorced.
Remick ran Remick's department store in suburban Quincy from 1930 when he took over management after the death of his father, Alfred, who founded the store in 1896. Remick sold the business in 1979 and retired.
He completed his studies at Harvard University after taking over the store.
Remick is survived by his second wife, Margaret, his daughter, a son, three stepchildren and six grandchildren.
