In Memory of Miss Ann Newell
Miss Ann, daughter of the late Peter and Mary Newell, was born on the Newell homestead near LaVilla, Houston county, Georgia, and lived there until the 28th of April, when she departed this life. Her father died when she was quite young, and she was left to the care of her mother, who was a sweet, christian lady....Miss Ann gave her life to the church, and her heart to God, in early life....many years ago, Miss Ann connected herself with the Methodist Church, at old Shiloh...Just a few days before her death she, with other members of the family, were at the church, preparing the graves of loved ones for Memorial Day, when she was stricken down with an attack of acute bright's disease....Miss Ann leaves two brothers, Mr. J. W. and S. P. Newell and two sisters, Misses Carrie and Fannie Newell, and several nephews and nieces, to mourn her loss....
