I'm researching my great grandparents John William (26 Jul 1875-1908) and Mary E. (Preston) Blount (Dec 1882-1909). I found a hint on familysearch.org he died in 1908, but no sources to confirm. There are also hints on familysearch.org Mary Ellen died in 1909 (again no sources) . In March 1909 their 3 kids were taken by Rev Hearon ( 140278492) from Chillicothe TX to the Waco Methodist Orphanage (according to the attached surviving Waco Methodist Orphanage records). A family story is that John died fighting a fire in a neighbor's home. Mary died of consumption.

I think both John and Mary grew up in Hopkins TX and were married there in 26 Feb 1899. In 1900 they're still there with their first child Cora (no death/birth cert) living next door to his mother and brothers. They also live very close to John H. and Vicie Preston (her cousins?) and James and Mahaley Preston (maybe her aunt and uncle since they already have a daughter named Mary Ellen born in 1862), but I haven't been able to find her parents to confirm that. John and Mary then had Vesta in 1902 (no birth/death certs) and Elmer (my grandfather) in 1904 (death cert says Chillicothe TX). In the 1910 census the 3 kids are "inmates" in a Waco Methodist orphanage (Cora, Vesta, and "Elma"). 1920 census is just Elmer. Cora was released to EM Taylor of Greenville TX and Vesta what released 23 May 1915 to WP Roberts of Decatur TX.

Were the 3 kids born in Hopkins (at least Cora was according to the 1900 census, but her obit says she was born in Chillicothe) and when Rev Hearon took them to Waco he told the orphanage they were born in Chillicothe and that's where the kids got their info (Elmer's and Cora's obits state they were born in Chillicothe). Or were Vesta and Elmer born in Chillicothe?

Unfortunately I haven't found any evidence John and Mary died in either Hopkins or Hardeman counties. I've looked for birth certs, death certs, obits, grave sites on FindaGrave.com, news articles, etc that would explain when and how John and Mary died. And why did my great grandparents moved from living next door to his mother and brother, and close to her family to go to Chillicothe? And once they got there, what happened to them that their kids were sent to Waco instead of to Hopkins where family was.
