Martha, wife of James Hixson, of Covert Creek, departed this life March 21st, 1883, aged 36 years, 7 months, and 2 days. She leaves a husband and seven children to mourn the loss of a kind companion and an affectionate mother, yet they sorrow not as those who have no hope. Sister Hixson embraced the cause of Christ a number of years ago in the state of Iowa. For the past year she has been a member of the Christian church at Pleasant Ridge in good standing and full fellowship. The funeral exercises were conducted at the house by E. Thornberg, after which the remains were conveyed to the Bristow cemetery for interment.
