Mary Elizabeth (Cathey) Brewster, 81, of McAlester, OK died Tuesday, July 30, 2019 in McAlester.
The family will greet friends on Monday, August 5, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Chaney’s Memorial Chapel.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at the Chaney’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chip Lott officiating. The burial will follow at Indianola Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Gary Barlow, Monte Barlow, Corey Cantrell, Paul Brewster, Jake Brewster, and Andrew Spears.
Mary was born September 13, 1938 in Indianola, Oklahoma to James Samuel Cathey and Roxie Lorene (Prater) Cathey. She married Jerry Cantrell in 1956. She married Eugene Brewster in 1990.
Mary graduated from Indianola Public School, was a member of Scipio Baptist Church, she enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, bowling and spending time with her family and grandchildren. In 1983 Mary started working as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until retirement.
She is survived by her children David Cantrell and wife Kellie of McAlester and Denise Brewster and husband Bryan of McAlester; grandchildren, Kacie Cantrell- Corey and Caitlin Cantrell- Paul Brewster- Jake Brewster all of McAlester; great grandchildren, Avery Grace and Amelia Rose Cantrell of McAlester; step children, Thomas Brewster and wife Rae Dene of McAlester, Gina Allen of McAlester and Julie Duff of McAlester; numerous nieces and nephews and step grandchildren; siblings, Richard Cathey and wife Ingrid of Colorado Springs, CO and Robert Lynn Cathey and wife Keri of Broken Arrow.
Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Cantrell; husband, Eugene Brewster; parents, James and Roxie Cathey; brothers, James Cathey, Howard Cathey and Larry Cathey.
