Daniel Leo Johnston, 79, formerly of Beloit, WI died peacefully surrounded by family in Maineville, OH on Sunday, July 28, 2019.

He was born October 21, 1939 in Gastonia, NC the son of David and Cleone (Duggan) Johnston. He married Rosanna Jordan on November 18, 1961 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Beloit, WI. Daniel graduated from Beloit Catholic High School in 1957 and worked at Adam’s Korn Kurl as a supervisor after high school. He then went on to work for Taylor (Freezer) Company, retiring as Vice President of Service in 2006.

He was previously a member of the Knights of Columbus, AA, and volunteered for the Salvation Army Food Pantry. He was also a lifelong member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church of Beloit.

Dan enjoyed watching old movies, especially John Wayne. He had a love for music which he passed on to his family. He never missed a Packer game, even when living in Ohio the past few years. Dan was an early riser and would always be found with a cup of coffee at the computer, usually playing games or emailing friends.

Survivors include his wife, Rosanna; daughter, Brenda (Curt) Johnston; granddaughter, Jessica Hall; daughter-in-law, Gloria Johnston; step-grandchildren, Derrick, Tracy, Stacy, and Loria Barber; brother, Wilbur (June) Johnston; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Chuck) Everson and Billie Jean (Jim) Lynch; and his beloved niece, nephews and step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved English Lab, Jasper.

Daniel was predeceased in death by his parents, David and Cleone Johnston; brother, Donald (Eleanor) Johnston and infant brother, Dale Johnston; his son, William Johnston and in-laws, William and Monica (Schwartz) Jordan.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2019 in St. Jude Catholic Church, 737 Hackett Street, Beloit, WI. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery.
Visitation of remembrance will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a Scripture service at 4:45 p.m.
