Charlene Jones, 100, of Oelwein, Iowa died peacefully at her home on Monday afternoon, July 29, 2019 with her family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 2, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Ray Atwood officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday and 9:30 to 10 AM on Friday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein.
Parish Scripture Service: 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.
Memorial Fund: Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Cedar Valley Hospice.

Charlene Loretta Regan was born February 18, 1919 in Waukon, Iowa the daughter of Charles Edward & Elizabeth (Byrnes) Regan. She was raised in Waukon where she graduated from Waukon High School. Charlene worked at the Allamakee County Extension Office where she met Lyle Jones. Charlene was united in marriage to Lyle Andrew Jones on June 13, 1942 in Lubbock, Texas, where Lyle was serving in the Army Air Corp. The couple moved to Allison, Iowa where Lyle worked for the county extension and then to Manchester, Iowa where Lyle worked for Farm Service Company. The family moved to Oelwein in October of 1953 due to Lyle’s transfer with Farm Service. Lyle and Charlene were blessed with six children. Charlene was a homemaker and was very supportive of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She was known to cheer on the Sacred Heart Tigers, Oelwein Huskies and more recently the Alabama Crimson Tide. Charlene enjoyed being around her family where she provided love, guidance, good food and a witty sense of humor. She was also blessed with many friendships that she enjoyed while bowling, playing bridge and serving on the Sacred Heart School Board. Charlene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Rosary Society and the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
Left to honor Charlene’s memory are her 5 Daughters:
Dolores (Stephen) Dowd of Venice, Florida,
Linda (Jim) Squiers of Bellevue,
Janice Poling of Oelwein,
Lisa Pierschbacher of Waterloo &
Lori Jones of Waterloo;
Son: Mike (Molly) Jones of Anamosa;
15 Grandchildren;
25 Great Grandchildren and many
Nieces & Nephews.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Lyle on April 9, 2006, 3 sisters: Mary Schwartzhoff, Bernadette Curtin and Anna Howes and a brother: Fr. James Regan.
