Anthony “Tony” Silva, 69, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019. He was surrounded by family as he was finally at peace.

Known by Tony to friends and family, he was born in New London, CT on August 12, 1949, son to late Joseph E. and Concetta L. Purpora Silva. He proudly served in the US Army and courageously fought in Vietnam. Outside of his military service, Tony was a dedicated husband and father who raised his son and celebrated 45 years of marriage. He was a mentor, coach, stand in parent and friend. He touched so many lives over the years.

Tony will be remembered most for the love he had to serve his country, his love of sports and coaching and the impact he had on so many. In recent years he loved to ride his Harley and was a part of the Patriot Guard in Las Vegas. In his last years he adopted a puppy and the two of them had a special bond. He loved little Vincenzo, his pup, so much. They brought each other so much comfort.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Stephan Silva; his son, Anthony Silva, Jr. (wife, Ansley Downey Silva); his sisters, Joan Silva Dugan (husband, Tom Dugan) and Rosemary Silva George (husband, William George); his brother, Joseph “Jes” Silva (wife, Evey Jechke Silva); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held 5-7pm Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. On Friday, August 2, 2019 a funeral cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 11:00am for a Committal Service starting at 11:30am at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to The American Diabetes Association or to The Wounded Warrior Project.
