Yvonne Mary Jane White, 81, of East Ridge, passed away on July 27, 2019.

She was a graduate of Tellico Plains High School and attended Knoxville Business College. She spent her formative years as Secretary of East Ridge Junior High and High School.

Yvonne and her husband Reed White were active and devoted members of South Seminole Baptist Church for over 50 years. She taught various Sunday school classes and was at one time in charge of the senior adult program. She also drove the church van transporting seniors to and from church. Yvonne was also very active in the Gideon’s organization. She also loved to travel and traveled various places with the senior adults on different bus trips. As well as her church, she had a very strong passion for her family. In particular, her love and support for her grandchildren never wavered. Throughout her life, she made it a point to always be present at her grandkids various church, school, and sports related events.

She was preceded in death by her aforementioned husband, Reed White, and her mother, Ina Mae Gay.

Left behind to cherish Yvonne’s memory are her sons, Gary White and wife, Gale of Chattanooga; David White and wife, Janet of Ringgold; grandchildren Katie Griswold and husband Andrew of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; Jacob and Taylor White of Chattanooga; Conner White and wife, Riley, Hunter and Lindsey White, all of Ringgold, great-grandson, John Griswold, “Nephews”, Calvin and Clayton Farley and her “Niece”, Judy Moore.

A Celebration of Yvonne’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Wednesday July 31st at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Perry officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 30th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. She will laid to rest with her husband in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Tellico Plains, Tennessee.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the management and staff at the Lantern at Morning Pointe on Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, for the strong love and support they have given our mother and grandmother over the last 2 years.
