Roy Robbins, Jr., 88, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Washington County, Indiana, the son of the late Roy Robbins, Sr. and Irene (Childers) Robbins. Roy was a retired iron worker for the Local 70 in Louisville, Kentucky and also a former Sprint Race Car Driver and won the Knoxville Nationals in 1960. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and a member of the Salem VFW Post # 6636. Roy was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth W. “Buck” Buchanan and a daughter, Denise Kathleen Buchanan. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Kathleen (Meier) Robbins; a grandson, Ryan Buchanan (Angie) of Scottsburg, Indiana; a granddaughter, Katrina Whalin (Dustin) of Greenville, Indiana; two sons, Richard Robbins of Scottsburg, Indiana and Gary Robbins (Sarah) of Salem, Indiana; one great granddaughter, Addison Buchanan; three other grandchildren and several other great grandchildren.
