Kimberly Cook-Reed, 46, of Peterstown and Princeton died Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at John Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore MD while waiting for a liver transplant. Born February 26, 1973 in Welch, she was the daughter of Jim Deskins of Princeton and the late Wanda Fuller Deskins. She was a graduate of Princeton Senior High School, was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Bluefield State College where she received her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Kim received her master’s degree from Western Government and was working towards her PhD. She was employed by Bluefield State College where she was teaching Computer Science. She loved animals, especially cats and worked diligently with animal rescue centers throughout the region. Kim never missed an opportunity to rescue any type of animal. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Patrick Cook. In addition to her father, she is survived by her brother & sister in law Michael & Tina Cook of Princeton, her companion and friend, Scott Gore along with his son Granger Gore. Kim’s nieces and nephews, Michael Cook, Amber Reed, Lexi Cook, Chase Cook, Shane Hart and Nathaniel Cook and a host of friends. In honoring her life, there will be a Celebration at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. with Pastor Jim Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Ebert, Marion Deskins, Jesse Cline, Curtis Gore, Nick Thornton, Scott Farley and Brandon Billings. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to honor Kim’s life can be made to the Mercer County Animal shelter. The Cook-Reed family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
