Larry Howe
Larry J. Howe, 80, of Blakesburg, died at 4:44 a.m. March 16, 2018 at his home.
He was born February 6, 1938 in Ft. Madison to Claude and M. Evon Kutzner Howe. He married Patricia Stephenson and they later divorced. He married Evelyn Gray of Blakesburg.
A graduate of Eldon High School in 1956, he had lived in Florida from 1961 to 2003 when he moved back to Blakesburg. He had served in the National Guard and Army Reserves and worked for 40 years as a life insurance agent retiring in 1997 from Liberty National.
He was a member of Blakesburg Christian Church, Ft. Pierce Masonic Lodge #87 in Ft. Pierce, FL, St. Lucie Shrine Club in Ft. Pierce, Fl, St. Lucie Life Underwriters, Blakesburg Lions Club, was President of Blakesburg Development, a former city councilman in Blakesburg, was on the board for Sunset Manor in Blakesburg and a Dale Carnegie graduate/instructor. Larry loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Lori (Richard) Williams of Vero Beach, FL and Terri Lynn Laughlin of Safford, AZ; a son, Larry James Howe Jr. of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and a sister, Vikki Waller of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Allen Howe; two great grandsons, Caleb and Alden Albrecht; a sister, Mary Kay Miles; a daughter-in-law, Kim Howe; two sons-in-law, Craig Albrecht and Jon Laughlin; a brother-in-law, Larry Waller.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Lyon officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blakesburg Development Corporation, Blakesburg Christian Church or Blakesburg Lions Club.
