Ann Maria Gainer was the daughter of Lieutenant Warren Gainer, Company K, Forth-ninth Ga. Regiment of the Confederate Army. Her mother was Ann Maria DeLamar.

Mr. and Mrs. Buchan reared thirteen children:
1- Clara Bell
2- Warren Gainer
3- Leutia Pauline
4- Leila Alberta
5- Annie May
6- Mary Nancy
7- Stella Orine
8- Lizzie De Leon
9- Essa Lavenia
10- Gena Jewel
11- Robert David
12- Maria Theresa
13- Rachel Louise

These families all resided in Pulaski and Bleckley Counties, and contributed materially to the development of each.

Ann Maria was a devout Christian (Methodist),of strong character whose influence did much in shaping the ideals of her community.
