Jerry Stone, age 81, of Bayard, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Church of Christ in Bayard with Pastor Bob Rogers officiating. Organist for the service will be Alice Drake. Burial will be in Highland Township Cemetery with military honors by the Bayard American Legion and the Iowa National Guard.

Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday evening. The casket will be moved to the Bayard Church of Christ at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids.

Jerry was born on May 19, 1938 in Bayard and was the son of Carroll and Vera (Albright) Stone. He graduated from Bayard High School in 1956. Following high school, he attended trade school in Omaha and was then drafted into the United States Army from 1961 – 1963.

He was married to Carol Knudsen, in 1964, and to this union three children were born: Janelle, Lisa and Channing. Carol passed away in 1976 and Jerry was later married to Joyce (Lewis) Jurgens on April 18, 1987 at Living History Farms.

Jerry was a jack of all trades having numerous jobs including trucking before he was legally able, working in an auto body shop in Coon Rapids, working for the Bayard Farmers Coop and the City of Bayard. Jerry enjoyed his hobbies of wood working and cooking, and he loved attending his grandchildren’s activities. He made a cradle for the first grandchild in each family as well as baking wedding, graduation, and birthday cakes. Throughout his life, Jerry was a member of the Jaycees, Boy Scouts, and the Bayard Fire Department as well as many other numerous associations. Jerry was a member of the Bayard Church of Christ.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Janelle (Tom), Tammy (Mike), Lisa (Todd), Tim, Channing (Erica), Trisha (Brad); fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters; four brothers; many nieces and nephews and good friends.

Jerry attained the age of 81 years, and is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Carol, and a niece, Stephanie Douglas.
