Caroline (Carrie) Best of Staunton died Monday, August 7, 2000, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Staunton. Born November 22, 1902, in Staunton, she was a daughter of the late Frederick (Fritz) and Anna (Brinker) Hebenstreit and had attained the age of 97 years.
She married Charles Best on February 25. 1922, in Staunton. He preceded her in death on August 21,1958. Mrs. Best was a homemaker in Staunton, a member of the First General Baptist Church here and the Navy Mothers.
She is survived by three sons, Wilbert (his wife Juanita) Best of Lebanon, MO. Gilbert Best of Staunton and Elton (his wife Norma) Best of Staunton; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Best; seven brothers, Adolph, George. Michael Henry, Edward, Anton, Fred and Michael Jacob Hebenstreit; and four sisters, Marie (Mary) Zentello, Maria (Minnie) Neuhaus. Lucille O'Neal, and Edna Schenkell.
Visitation will be held tonight (Wednesday) from 5 until 8 p.m. at Williamson Funeral Home, Staunton. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 10 at Williamson Funeral Home. The Rev. Clint Braman will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Staunton.
Memorials are suggested to First General Baptist Church. Community Memorial Hospital or Heritage Manor Nursing Home, all in Staunton.
