Obituary for Mr. Jonathan Michael Morrison

Jonathan Michael Morrison, 43, of Harmony, died Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at his home.

Born on February 18, 1976 in Iredell County, he was a son of Michael Dean Morrison and Patricia Ann Barker Morrison, both of whom survive. He was a fabricator with GMS Racing, and a 1994 graduate of North Iredell High School, having played all sports throughout his school years and lettering in football. His Boys, Dylan and Austin were his world. He was an avid pit bull lover. He also loved racing, and taught racing at Catawba Valley Technical School and he helped start the racing program there. He was awarded Mechanic Of The Year on two occasions at Hickory Motor Speedway. His entire life after high school was in the racing world. He loved building race cars. Even when he was not at the shop he continued to help local drivers at Hickory Motor Speedway. He has been crew chief for Austin McDaniel, Car # 12 for several years. Racing was in his blood. He made tons of friends over the years and they were like family to him.

Jonathan was a kind, honest and humble man and a loyal friend. He would do anything he could to help anybody. Nobody met him that did not love him. He will forever be greatly missed. Jonathan made a tremendous impact on a lot of people. He never knew all the lives he touched.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Andrea Davies, his two sons, Dylan Michael Morrison and Austin Lee Morrison, a sister, Paula Renee Morrison and her son, Liam Hines along with numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 Wednesday at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Preacher David Daly and Rev. Dale Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends Tuesday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M.

Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the benefit of his sons and sent to Dylan and Austin Morrison Benefit Fund, 164 Mt. Bethel Rd., Harmony, North Carolina 28634.
