Stanley “Stan” Diedrich Bargfrede, 70 of Rochester, a much beloved husband, father, bapa, grandpa and friend, passed away on July 24, 2019 surrounded by family at Season’s Hospice, after battling Prostate Cancer for over six years.

Stan was born in Jackson, MN on April 26, 1949 to Harry and Maxine (Koenecke) Bargfrede. He graduated from Jackson High School and then moved off the farm to Rochester.

Stan spent his professional career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for 44 years with approximately 20 of those years at Mayo Clinic. He was very proud of his work.

In September of 1970, he married Pam Deutsch, and they raised two sons together.

Following retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Lourdes Foundation, Channel One food bank, and at the St. James Coffee Shop. Stan loved spending time with his family and friends.

How can you put in a few words a life so full, rich, and meaningful to the many that knew him? He was a remarkable human being - one of the really good guys. We as his family were privileged to have him in our lives. Stan will be a bright face in heaven. He loved his family very much and was so proud of them.

Stan is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Pam, two sons Jason (Melissa), Joshua (Kati) all of Rochester, grandchildren Jameson, Grady, Josie, Hailey, Emilee, Laura, Rachel, Alexandra, Brett, his brother Darrell of Tampa, FL, and his sister Ann Nibbe of Ormsby, MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marlene Planting.

The Funeral Mass for Stan will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester with Rev. Msgr. Gerald A. Mahon officiating. Visitation will be begin at 9:00AM on Monday prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Deutsch Family Scholarship or the Tom Murphy Scholarship through the Lourdes Foundation.

A special thank- you is extended to the staff of Season’s Hospice for the care they provided.
