John Robertson Collier was born on May 28, 1929 in Nowata, Oklahoma to William Collier and Maudie Mae (Worthington) Collier. John was born and raised in Nowata and went to Childers Public School. He enlisted the U.S. Army in 1946 where he served in WWII. He married Elinor LaBelle Miller on April 8, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas. They had four wonderful children together before going there separate ways. He loved his family very much and always made sure they were taken care of.

John was a very hard worker and worked hard all his life. He did a little bit of everything, operated the Sinclair Station in Nowata, (pumping gas, checking the fluids on the automobiles, washing windshields, etc.), welder, drove a propane truck, raising livestock (cattle, horses, dogs). John also owned and operated Collier Well Service for over twenty years. He was a guy of many talents and could do or fix anything. After working all day he would sit out on the porch to watch the livestock graze on the land and enjoying the nature of life.
