Esther Lois Cavitt Singer, age 91, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at the Southridge Village Nursing Center in Heber Springs. Born in Hutchison, Arkansas, on December 3, 1915, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Julia (Manuel) Parks.

A former resident of Southside, Mrs. Singer had been a cook for the Southside School in Batesville and also the Stockholm Restaurant in Heber Springs. She was well known for her homemade yeast rolls and cinnamon rolls. Mrs. Singer was also a homemaker who loved gardening, flowers, and cooking. A resident of Heber Springs since 1976, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs and a charter member of the Saints Alive Choir of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl A. Cavitt, in December of 1975, and Charlie Thomas Singer, in August of 1985. Mrs. Singer was also preceded in death by one son, Philip Parks Cavitt; one daughter, Ester May Altom; two brothers, Kenneth Parks and John C. Parks; and one sister, Emma Parks.

Mrs. Singer is survived by one son, James Earl Cavitt and his wife, Earlene, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Anna Lee Welborn and her husband, Tom, of Heber Springs; one sister, Elmalee Parks of Batesville; six grandchildren, Sharon Jones, Joe Welborn, Dale Altom, Andy Altom, Amy Lee Cavitt, and Jamee Cavitt; ten great grandchildren, Scott Sanders, Blake Jones, Brad Sneed, Carrie Wood, Andrew Altom, Sam Altom, Ethan Altom, Ryan Altom, Aranda House, and Gracianna Hernandez; and five great, great grandchildren, Hailey Sanders, Michael Jennings, Kenan Sneed, Ellie Wood, and Haley Altom. Mrs. Singer is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at the Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. in Heber Springs. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs with Dr. J. R. DeBusk officiating. Interment will follow in the Egner Cemetery at Salado, AR. Joe Welborn, Dale Altom, Andy Altom, Tim Thomas, Scott Sanders, and Blake Jones will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Sneed, Sander Wood, Ryan Altom, Andrew Altom, Sam Altom, Rick Jones, and Ethan Altom. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. www.olmstead.cc
