Everett Lee Payne, 73, of Louisville, Ky., and formerly of Monroe County, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, in Charlestown, Ind.

The Monroe County native was a retired construction worker for Highbaugh Building Co. and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He attended Boyd School.

Survivors include two sons, James Everett Payne and wife Kimberly of Louisville and Joseph Alan Payne of Louisville; two daughters, Holly Gay Payne Erwin and husband James of New Milford, Ct., and Glenda Lea Payne Stewart and husband Andy of Louisville; four sisters, Juanita French, Dean Grimes and Athlene Thompson, all of Louisville, and Geneva Wisdom of Glasgow; one stepson, Dennis Payne of Bowling Green; two grandchildren, Joshua Lee Payne and Isaac Erwin; one step-granddaughter, Jennifer Payne of Bowling Green; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Matthew and Lecta Jane Dossey Payne; four brothers, Loy, Levy, Edward and Homer D. Payne; and four sisters, Edna Payne, Olene Payne, Ermine Arterburn and Exler Combs.

Funeral services will be at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
