Wallace Newman Potter and Minnie Soules, the d/o James S. Soules (b. 24 Feb 1847) and Emma Ann Barnes (b. 30 Sep 1857), were married on April 10, 1910 in Balch Springs, Dallas County, Texas. Minnie Soules was born on February 15, 1893. Wallace and Minnie lived at 2003 Potter Lane, a street named after his pioneer family. He was a carpenter by trade and served as a Baptist minister for 18 years. He preached at the Orchard Hill Baptist Church before his retirement due to ill health. Wallace and Minnie had ten children. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on April 10, 1960. Wallace died about three and a half years later on September 18, 1863 in a Dallas hospital. He was buried in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas. After Wallace's death, Minnie married Henry Faubian on February 5, 1972.

MESQUITE – Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Potter of 2003 Potter Ln., Mesquite, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. April 10 at their home. / Mr. and Mrs. Potter have lived in Mesquite most of their lives. He is a retired farmer and carpenter. / Hosts and hostesses for the celebration will be their nine children – Mrs. J. P. Paschall, Miss (sic) Ruby Ervin, Claud Potter, Mrs. James Davis, Rev. Billy Potter, Mrs. James Abernathy, Mrs. Pauline Ervin and Marvin James Potter, all of Mesquite and Wallace N. Potter Jr. of Cottage Grove, Ore.

Services were held Friday for Wallace Newman Potter, native of Mesquite who lived at 2003 Potter Lane. / Last rites were held in Anderson Clayton Funeral Chapel with E. V. Pruitt and Preston Stuart officiating. Interment was at Grove Hill Cemetery. / Mr. Potter died Sept. 18 (1963) in a Dallas hospital. In 1910, he and Miss Minnie Soules were married in Balch Springs. / He was born in Mesquite and resided here throughout his life. He was a retired carpenter and a Baptist minister for 18 years. He was pastor of the Orchard Hill Baptist Church in Dallas until ill health brought about his retirement. / Mr. Potter is survived by his wife; four sons, Billy, pastor of the Faith Baptist Church, Claude N. Potter, & Marvin J. Potter, all of Mesquite; Wallace N. Potter, Jr. of Cottage Grove, Ore; five daughters, Mrs. J. P. Paschall, Mrs. Ruby Ervin, both of Mesquite; Mrs. James A. Davis of Scurry, Mrs. James Abernathy and Mrs. Ed Harris, both of Dallas; also 25 grandchildren and 9 great grand-children.
Wallace's father Andrew Jackson Potter was first married to Eliza Ann Terrell on August 17, 1882 in Dallas Co., TX. They divorced about 1888. They had one child, a daughter, Dora May Potter. Dora married 1st William ("Will") Evans and they had one child, Vada Evans. Dora married 2nd William ("Will") Blohm and they had at least one child, Thomas William Blohm, and possibly a second child, not yet confirmed. Will and Dora (Potter) Blohm were deceased by 1955, when they are mentioned in the obituary of their son T.W. Dora's daughter Vada married 3 times and died in 1979.
