James LaCurtis Baines, 86, of Henderson, NC died Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at a local nursing home.
Born in Suffolk, Virginia, he was the son of the late Lloyd McKinley and Maude Bagley Baines.
Mr. Baines was a retired employee of Harriet & Henderson Yarns Inc. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are his daughter, Donna B. Glasscock (Ernest); his son, James R. Baines; five grandchildren, Michael W. Baines (Jordan), Adam W. Roberts (Kendall), Tiffany Stanfield, Megan Glasscock, and Caleb Glasscock; and two great-grandchildren, Nolan Baines and Harper Q. Baines. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Frances Beal Baines; a daughter, Sheila B. Roberts; a son, Randy Lee Baines; and a brother, Lloyd B. Baines.
The family will receive friends at Sossamon Funeral Home Sunday, 12:30-2:00 p.m. All other times, they will be at the home of Donna Glasscock, 4260 Dabney Road, Henderson.
Members of the Vance County Sheriff’s Office will serve as pallbearers.
