In addition to her family, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas ”Hill “Watson, brothers: Tommy and Earl “Bud” Gibson, sister, Faye Gibson and a nephew, Rev. Randy Gibson.
Ruby was employed for many years as a payroll clerk for the Board of Education. She was a generous, caring person who deeply loved her family and friends. She was a past Treasurer of the Caldwell County Republican Party, past treasurer at Union Grove Baptist Church, and was very involved at Union Grove Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member. Ruby loved everyone and was very dedicated to her family and friends; she was willing to help anyone in need. She was also known for her amazing cakes that she shared so freely with those in her neighborhood, church and family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her nieces and nephews, Vicki Coffey and husband Terry of Lenoir, Marty Gibson and wife Janet of Granite Falls, Donna Goude and husband Rev. Bud of Hayes Virgina, and Wanda Gibson of the home who was also her primary caretaker for over 9 years and a sister-in-law. Floye Gibson. . Also left to cherish her memory are several great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor Mrs. Watson will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Craven officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Union Grove Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathon Craven, Barry Curtis, Kevin Carswell, Wayne Rash, and Mike Parsons.
The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the Building Fund at Union Grove Baptist Church at 1808 Union Grove Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
