Dear Lord I Thank Thee
For this day
That thou hast given me,,
I Thank Thee for Thy precious love
That sets my spirit free…..

The service filled life of Christine Virginia Griffin, affectionately called, “Big Mama”, came to a close on Saturday, August 8, 2015, after a gallantly fought illness. She was surrounded by her loving children and other family members at her bedside. We, her family, thank God for the many years we shared; for all the love and joy she brought to our family. We humbly submit to God’s Will.

Born July 13, 1948 in Stanly County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Willie James and Julia Ethel Lilly Lee. Her formal education was received in the public schools of Stanly County, North Carolina. She was employed for many years with Almond Brothers Chicken and Poultry, Albemarle, North Carolina; Collins and Aikman –the Norwood and Albemarle Divisions. She was last employed with the International Automotive Components until her health declined.

Christine’s church affiliation was with First Baptist Missionary Church, Norwood, North Carolina where she was a faithful member. There she served on the Usher Board and Kitchen Committee. She was also a Member of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Mason’s Order of the Eastern Stars, Easter Chapter # 30, Central Jurisdiction, Inc., Mt. Gilead, North Carolina. “Big Mama” was never idle. She loved family gatherings and there she had an opportunity to showcase her talent as an excellent cook. “Big Mama” enjoyed fishing, traveling and shopping. She was loving, kind and generous to family and friends.

She was formerly married to the late Roy Roger Griffin and they were the proud parents of four children: Gwen, Everick and Roger “Ram” survive her; Belinda preceded her in death.
