Mattoon, IL — Mable C. Woods, age 91, of Mattoon, passed away at the Odd Fellows-Rebekah Home on November 12, 2003 at 2:45 PM.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Reverend Fran Ketner officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Janesville Cemetery.
Mrs. Woods was born August 19, 1912 in Stewardson, Illinois, the daughter of Frederick Henry and Cora Mae Turner Baumgarten. She married Jake Woods in Shelbyville. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1959.
Mable is survived by her children, Ruth White and her husband Jack of Bedford, Texas, and Jake Woods and his wife Ruth, of Mattoon, Illinois. She leaves three grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Mrs. Woods attended the First Christian Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of the Mattoon Eagles Club, Coles County Extension, and Royal Neighbors.
Mable enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, and doing crafts. She was enthusiastic about African Violets. She was very fond of her cat, “Calico,” and treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
