Japanese Prime Minister. He served as the Prime Minister of Japan from 1991 to 1993. Born in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Perfecture, Japan, Miyazawa graduated from the Tokyo Imperial University with a degree in law. After entering politics in 1942, he joined the Ministry of Finance, before being elected to the upper house of the Diet of Japan, and finally to the lower house in 1967. After serving in the lower house, Miyazawa served as the Minister of International Trade and Industry from 1970 to 1971, Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1974 to 1976, Director General of the Economic Planning Agency from 1977 to 1978, and finally as Chief Cabinet Secretary from 1984 to 1986. In 1987, Miyasawa accepted the post of Minister of Finance in the government of then Prime Minister Noburo Takeshita, but later resigned due to a scandal. Four years later in November 1991, he took office as the 78th Prime Minister of Japan. On January 8, 1992, Prime Minister Miyazawa briefly gained fame in the United States when President George Bush fainted and then vomited on him during a state dinner at the White House. The unfortunate event was seen as a big joke in the media and around the world giving the incident the name of "bushu-suru" or "bushuru" meaning to "commit and instance of embarrassing public vomiting" or "to do a Bush." On August 8, 1993, Miyazawa eventually left office after being voted out by a vote of no confidence. After six years out of public office, he returned to politics and served as Finance Minister in the governments of both Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi and Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori from 1999 to 2002. He retired from politics for good in 2003. He passed away from natural causes in Tokyo at the age of 87.
