Marvin James Alff, PhD, was born January 21, 1949. Marvin passed away peacefully in his home, June 3, 2019, after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by loving parents, Alfred G. Alff and Edna L. Alff (Bird) and wonderful in-laws Thomas C. Steenson and Daisy O. Steenson.

Survived by beloved wife of 47 years, Judy; sons, Kevin (Lisa) and Andrew (Nancy); daughter, Deanna House (Mark); and 5 wonderful grandchildren, Grace Alff, Eliot House, Cole Alff, Emerson House, and Coraline Alff. In addition, several cousins who were loved like siblings, Shirley (Bill) Kenny, Wendell (Darlene) Alff, Rosalie Downing, Joan (Dean) Bates, and Duane (Bette) Alff; cherished brothers and sisters by marriage, Larry (Mary) Steenson, Tom (Paula) Steenson, Melissa (Stu) Gilbert, Andrea Steenson, Tim Steenson (Marylee Wilson), and Rebecca (Val) Goodman; many dear nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.

Dr. Alff was proud to be a career educator and student. He earned an Associate's of Science degree from Iowa Western Community College, a Bachelor's of Science and a Master's of Science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Neb., and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Marv worked in public education at Omaha Public Schools, Metropolitan Community College, and Bellevue Public schools for over 42 years. Marv hopes to be remembered not for any of the things he accomplished but rather the effect that his life may have had on others!

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 23, 2019, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., at Florence City Hall, 2864 State St, Omaha, NE 68112. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to help establish the Alff/Steenson Memorial Scholarship Fund for students interested in pursuing teaching careers.
