Phyllis Eloise Pennington Graham, 86, of, Princeton died Saturday, December 31, 2016 at her residence with her loving family at her side. Phyllis graduated from Concord College and then went on to pursue her master’s degree from Virginia Tech. Mrs. Graham was a retired employee for the Mercer County Board of Education serving as a teacher and Guidance Counselor for many years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister.

Born February 13, 1930, in Elgood, she was the daughter of the late Ferrell Leo Pennington Sr. (1907-Deceased) & Birdie M. Whitt-Pennington (1910-Deceased). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Pennington (Deceased) & Jack Pennington (Deceased); an infant sister, Texie June Pennington (Died in Infancy); and an infant granddaughter, Chelsea Akers (Died in Infancy).

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Aleta Jo Graham-Crotty & husband Jack Crotty, and Lori Graham-Akers and fiancé James Barton all of Princeton; four grandchildren, Brent Crotty of New York, Kristin Wilburn & husband Josh Wilburn, Tesla Akers and McKenzie Akers, all of Princeton; one great grandchild, Cole Wilburn of Princeton; her former spouse and father of her children, Weldon Wayne Graham (B. 1929) of Lashmeet whom she married on December 25, 1952 in Lashmeet, Mercer County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Mercer County, WV, 1952, Page 128, Line 6, Application Date: December 19, 1952); and her brothers, Jimmy Pennington & Ferrell Leo Pennington Jr. of MI.

Services to celebrate the life of Phyllis Eloise Graham will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Ken Price officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held the following day at 10:00 A.M. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
