Andrea was born on April 5, 1959, in Washington, DC, to Mary (Robinson) and Albert Brunson. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1976, she completed an associate degree at Green Mountain College. She then transferred to the University of the District of Columbia, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. After working for Department of the Navy and Murray’s, Inc., Andrea joined the Internal Revenue Service, where she worked for the past 32 years. In 2008, Andrea moved to Brunswick, Maryland, where she served multiple terms on the city’s planning commission. In addition to her public service, Andrea donated to many worthy causes, in line with her Christian principles.
She is survived by her: son, Alexander (Alison); three sisters, Marci (Anthony), Linda, and Cheryl; six nieces and nephews, Grover (Candice), Carleah (Luvine), Sandra, J.R. (Gwen), Dorothena, and Chantia (Jeff); and ten grandnieces and grandnephews, Olivia, Jada, Savannah, Ariella, Mikaela, Mekhi, Ariana, Kimberly, Dominic, and Channing.
Ms. Hawley-Ferguson’s family would like to thank the compassionate nurses and hospice staff at Frederick Memorial Hospital who made her transition peaceful. The family also thanks everyone who visited and provided kind words and nourishment during this time.
Services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, MD. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. and the funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Interment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Bladensburg, MD.
