Lachlan (Lauchlan, Launch) Shaw. From various files in S. C. state Archives & History center: Thought to have been born in Europe. In the Independent Company of Foot for His Majesty's service in South Carolina, he was made Lt. 20 June 1753. Promoted by Gov. W. H. Lyttelton as Major of Brigade in the Intended Expedition to the Cherokee Nation, Oct. 1759; a judgement action 1761 & 1762. [there is also a Rev. Lachlan Shaw, minister of Elgin, province of Moray, Scotland...1692-1777]
