Mr. Wilgie Lay, age 69, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2006, at the Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 18, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Peters officiating. Mr. Lay was laid to rest at the Hayes Creek Cemetery in Strunk, Kentucky. The family will receive friends from 6-9pm Friday at Pine Knot Funeral Home.

He was born at Hayes Creek, in McCreary County, on January 4, 1937, a son of the late Edgar (Edd) and Flora Lovett Lay. Also preceding him in death is a brother Paul Lay.

Wilgie leaves behind two sons Eddie Dean Lay (and his wife Brenda) of Dalton, Georgia, and Stanley Lay (and his wife Kay) of Calhoun, Georgia, and a twin brother Algia Lay (and his wife Pernia) of Pine Knot, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving is his ex-wife Pam Trammell of Pine Knot and Anna Mae Manning, the mother of his children.

Wilgie was retired having been self-employed for many years. He was a member of the Hayes Creek Church of God. His favorite pastime was fishing, and he enjoyed buying, selling and trading with people.
