Mrs. Mary Ann "Nanny" Oden, 69, of Dickerson, MD passed away Friday March 3, 2017.
Mary Ann was born December 29, 1947 in MD to the late Alice Beatrice (Harding) Dodd and John "Doc" Wesley Dodd Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur Lee "Daddy Lee" Oden Jr and sibling John Wesley Dodd Jr.
She is survived by her children Melinda Lee Oden Jones (Dean), Arthur Lee Oden III (Alanna), Timothy Scott Oden, Jesse Wayne Oden (Christina); siblings Shirley Elaine Shipe, Barbara Jean Ricketts and 19 grand and great grandchildren.
Mary Ann grew up in Gaithersburg MD and often told the story of her being painted on the mural at the fairgrounds as she was one of the few polio survivors in the city at that time. Mary Ann graduated from Gaithersburg High school and went on to receive her beauticians' license.
Mary Ann married the love of her life at 18 and together they created the family whom she would do anything for. She will be remembered for her love of decorating for the holidays (she even won some awards), her love of animals, and mostly for the love she gave her family. She worked as a Resident Manager, and spent her retirement as a caregiver for many of her grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday March 15 at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday March 16 at St. Martin of Tours Church, 201 S. Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg.
Interment will be at Forest Oak Cemetery, Gaithersburg.
