Born in a log house on a farm in Almonte, Ontario on September 27, 1925. On February 3, 2019, at 93 years old, Doreen peacefully passed away while surrounded by family. She was predeceased in April, 2017 by her husband of 70 Years, Russell. Doreen's heart was most full when she had family near. She loved, guided, mentored, and cherished her children: Kerry (Linda), Boyne (Marilyn), Suzanne (John), and Lori (Roy). She was a nurturing Oma to Shannon Maker (Mike), Logan Saunders Matte, and Kayla Saunders Sikkema (Ben) and a caring Great-Oma to Charlotte, Amelie, Sienna, August, and Kase. Doreen is survived by her sister Ann Bourgoin, predeceased by her parents Milton and Elizabeth "Betty" More of Almonte and siblings: infant sister Doris, and brothers Logan (Jean), John (Ruth), Laurie and Bertram (Bernice). She was sister-in-law to Arnold (Winnie), the late Albert, Lucille, Joy, Richard, Merwin, Shirley, and Calvin. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews for her fun nature and love of life. For 17 years Doreen worked at the federal government. However, she found her true passion and meaning through years of leadership with children and young adults in various roles in Christian education over many decades and especially at Camp Bitobi and Gracefield Presbyterian Camp. Doreen was a chartered member and elder of St. Timothy's Presbyterian Church and then a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Doreen led a joyful, fulfilling and inspirational life by example and described her life as being truly blessed with great family and many wonderful friends.
