Malcolm Curtis Wilson, Jr.
June 5, 1932 - June 10, 2019
Newburyport, MA - Malcolm Curtis Wilson, Jr., of Newburyport, formerly a resident of North Andover and Reading for a combined 41 years, died on June 10th, at his home following a several-year battle with cancer.
He was born June 5, 1932, at Lawrence General Hospital, son of the late Malcolm C. and Marion (Knightly) Wilson. Mr. Wilson resided in Melrose until 1939, when the family moved to Winchester, where he was a graduate of Winchester High School, Class of 1950. He received undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Technology from Northeastern University, Boston, and held a M.S. in Manufacturing Engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
During his 38-year career as a senior industrial engineer for the Raytheon Company, Mr. Wilson was involved in the manufacture of gyroscopes, transformers, and power tubes for guided missiles and radar systems, as well as the display keyboard for the on-board guidance computer of the Apollo Spacecraft Program.
He served seven years as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve, Corps of Engineers, during the Korean Conflict.
Having accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior prior to the age of eleven, Mr. Wilson continued, as an adult, to serve his Lord as a deacon and lay leader in various Baptist churches, most recently as an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hampton Falls, NH.
Left to mourn are his wife of nearly 64 years, Nellie Rhoda (Dawe) Wilson; a daughter, Jane Chieco and husband, Stephen of South Carolina; a son, M. Curtis Wilson, III and wife, Kristine of Colorado; a daughter, Rhoda Segerstrom and husband Peter of Winchester; a brother, Dr. Marvin R. Wilson and wife Pauline of South Hamilton, Mass., along with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Hampton Falls, NH on Tuesday, June 25th at 11 a.m. Burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester will be private. Memorial gifts may be made to the Missions Fund, First Baptist Church of Hampton Falls, 3 Lincoln Avenue, Hampton Falls, NH 03844.
