Ralph Winton Black, 87, died Friday, June 28, 2019, after bravely fighting the good fight against Alzheimer’s.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Valeria Ellen (Bell) Black; son, Steven Black; daughter, Delynn Black Lynch and son-in-law Clifford Lynch; grandchildren, Samuel Winton Campbell, Lacey Looney (Charles), CJ Lynch and Myrandia Lynch; brother, Thomas Black and sister-in law Alice, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many close friends.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Helen Dedmon Black, brother James Black, and sister Shirley Black.

Born in Ringgold, GA, on his Dedmon family’s farm, he spent all his life in Ringgold, except for his two years of U.S. Army service in South Korea during the Korean War. Ralph worked for 31 years at Combustion Engineering and spent more time in retirement than he did at his official job.

The family sends special thanks to NHC Fort Oglethorpe, Comfort Keepers, and Hearth Hospice, for their services, delivering superb care and support to Ralph and Valeria during his illness.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Greg Phillips officiating and eulogy by Steven Black
Interment will be in Nathan Anderson Cemetery.
