Lawrence, 63, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, July 21, 2019, in Holland, Michigan. He was born the son of Lawrence Philip and Alice June (Smith) Gabel.

A 1974 graduate of Galesburg High School, Tony earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Ferris State University in 1979. He married Janet Hoover on October 4, 1980, at St. Robert’s Catholic Church in Flushing, Michigan. He was a member of Delta Sigma Pi at Ferris State University, loved blues music, and more than anything, loved spending time with his family.

Tony is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Janet; daughter, Lauren Gabel of Washington D.C., mother and step-father, June Gabel and Kenny Swanson of Galesburg; brothers, Brian (Darla) Gabel and Brent Gabel, both of Galesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tony’s funeral celebrated Friday, July 26, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Father Don Henkes officiating.

A meal followed in Lincoln Reception Center. Interment of his ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery following the meal.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Anthony ‘Tony’ Gabel Memorial Fund through Isabella Bank, Mt. Pleasant MI.
