Barbara R. Massey, age 82 of Douglasville, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019. She was born on November 5, 1936 in Lenoir, NC, daughter of the late Bob A. Roddenberry and the late Freddie Akins Roddenberry. During her career, Barbara worked as a para-pro for the Douglas County School System. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and she loved cooking. Barbara was a member of Cedar Grove Church of Christ in Fairburn, GA.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard Massey; children: Jody Massey and wife Clara; Scott Massey and wife Paula; and Kim Goss; grandchildren: Jamie Locklear and husband Andy; John Massey and wife Kassi; Cody Massey and wife Brittany; Chris Massey; Jeffrey Massey; Jennifer Massey; Kaley Goss and Mark Goss; 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 23, at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville.
The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Minister Ross Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Heritage Gardens (previously Flint Hill Cemetery), 7156 Highway 5, Douglasville, GA 30135.
