Henry Dwight Sedgwick, died peacefully in his sleep, on Sunday, April 22 in Essex, CT. Mr. Sedgwick, known as Harry, was 90 years old. He was born in Boston to Robert Minturn Sedgwick and Helen Peabody Sedgwick, and grew up in Dedham and Groton, MA. Mr. Sedgwick, known as "Duke" when he played football and hockey for Harvard, graduated with the class of 1951 and then attended the Centre d'Etudes Industriel in Geneva, Switzerland. After a decade working with the Aluminum Company of Canada, in Montreal, Sedgwick became a New York City democratic district leader. He later went into venture management, eventually starting his own company, Sedgwick Associates. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Robin Sedgwick, his children, Henry Dwight Stern (Paula), Michael Stern (Leni), Holly Sedgwick, Robert Sedgwick (Annmaria), Nicholas Sedgwick (Gabriella), Kyra Sedgwick (Kevin), two step-children, Conrad Auchincloss and Hilary Wittmann (Christopher), two half brothers, Robert M. Sedgwick (Helen), John S. Sedgwick (Rana), a half sister, Emily Sedgwick (Bob), thirteen grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. His two previous marriages ended in divorce. The funeral for Harry will be held on Saturday morning, April 28, at 11am at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme. In addition, there will be a burial service, later in the spring, in Stockbridge, MA.
