Ronald R. Williamson, 75, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away July 18, 2019 at his home. Born in Salem, Ohio, he was a son of the late Robert R. and Rebecca (Luplow) Williamson of Greenford, Ohio.

Ron relished life, enjoying things kids do; jumping in mud puddles, playing in the creek, building dams, sailing boats, helping with the yard work, and having fun with his best friend, Tom Bailey.

His parents took him to Greenford Lutheran Church where Ron enjoyed ringing the steeple bell on Sunday mornings and serving as an altar boy.

With a smile on his face, he brought joy to everyone.

Becky, his mother, read to him often and developed a joy of literature in him.

Even as a small boy, Ron had an infectious laugh. Once at the theater movie of Indians attacking a wagon train, Ron thought the Indians whooping was so funny, he began laughing. Soon the whole theater was laughing with this youngster.

Later, he became involved as a Boy Scout, "Doing his best for God and his country." He also participated with the Greenford Ruritan Club, and he helped cook chicken at the Caufield Fair to raise money for the needy.

In 1961 Ron graduated as the class valedictorian of Greenford High School. Next he went to college in Cleveland, OH, which later became Cleveland State University, where Ron majored in English.

After his college education, Ron married his Greenford sweetheart, Sally Beardsley and he went on to teach at Alexander Hamilton Junior High School in Cleveland, OH. The following year, Ron and Sally moved to Poland, OH where Ron obtained a teaching position at Poland MIddle School, teaching 7th & 8th graders. The couple had three children, Ginger, Scott and Melissa which brought them much joy.

Later the family would move to Boardman Township where his children developed good, life-long friends. Every Sunday, Ron faithfully took his children to Boardman Christian Church to obtain the same wonderful virtues that he valued. "Jesus is the way, the life, and the truth." (John 14:6). Ron also served the church on the Leadership Team and teaching Sunday School to 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students.

However, their marriage ended after 20 years.

Ron sought the good Lord's help in prayer to meet a Christian lady to share his life with. In 1987 an "angel;" friend he had just met suggested that they attend a St. Patrick's Day party at a place called "Somebody's" in Austintown, OH. There Ron met Kathie "across a crowded room" their eyes met. Ron walked over and asked her to dance. They were married October 3, 1987.

As a couple they enjoyed life; walking, biking, going camping, traveling, fishing and being together. When Ron retired in 1996, the Williamsons moved to Myrtle Beach, SC where they enjoyed the warmer climate near the ocean. Then they joined Sun Coast Christian Church and became involved with the church's ministries, teaching, serving communion, helping the poor, and developing a network of good friends.

Ron leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Kathie, and his children; Ginger (Rob) McAndrew of New Middletown, OH, Scott (Jodie) Williamson of New Springfield, OH, Melissa Williamson of New Middletown, OH; two step-children, Paul Consier (Krissy) of Conewango Valley, NY, Laura Good of Wellsburg, WV; seven grandchildren, Hannah McAndrew, Becca McAndrew, Olivia (Will) Heid, Ensley Williamson, Brady Williamson, David Smith, and Kyla Heck; three step-grandchildren, Corey Latimer (Sarah) Jessica Good and Anthony Consier (deceased); one great-grandson, Griffin Williamson; two brothers, Alan (Barbie) Williamson of Oak Island, NC, Jon (Lil) Williamson of Boardman, OH; a sister, Cherie Davis-Elser (Galen) of Canfield, OH; step-siblings, Ted (Fran) Paulsey of Lake Milton, OH, Linda Paulsey (Ben(deceased)) of Austintown, OH, Anthony Pauley (Jan), of Lake MIlton, OH, Christian (Andrew) Hospodan of Lake MIlton, OH, Joe (Alicia) Paulsey of N. Randall, OH, Joann (Chuck) Berry of Newton Falls, OH, Dana Hospodan (Marty) of Seattle, WA.

Visitation, at Myrtle Beach Funeral Home, 4505 Hwy 17 Bypass South, Myrtle Beach, will be Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Dr. Bill Genda, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery, Myrtle Beach.
