OBITUARY, Pueblo West Funeral Home, Pueblo West, Colorado:

Obituary for Gary Arthur "Action" Grisham

Gary Arthur Grisham (Action) came into this world on June 16,1947 a bouncing baby boy with brown eyes and curly brown hair. Born to parents, Opal (Craig) and Haskell Grisham. Gary ended up in the “Oops I’m Dead” pages of the city rag (Chieftain) on July 21,2019 having checked out on July 18 2019. Gary was deep asleep listening to a John Prine CD, Souvenirs, delivered by his brother-in-law, Tom McBride. He passed during the song "Please Don’t Bury Me" (in that cold, cold ground). A gifted musician, guitarist, writer, speaker, golfer and hysterically funny, (the man made me laugh out loud our entire life).

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Haskell Grisham. Grandparents, Craig and Grisham. Uncles Max Grisham, Lee Grisham, Ralph Lindsey and Aunts Ilo Grisham and Beth Lindsey. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 35 years, Patty; Son, Gary Craig; daughter, Natalie Merritt Grisham; two grandsons, Hayden and Nijah Eli Grisham. Also survived by brother, Brian (Annemarie); sisters, Randa (Logan) MacMillan and Marcy Grisham; Uncle Ken Craig and all the Craig family members of Denver; 8 nieces and nephew, (Nathan Grisham, Cris Grisham, Brande Grisham, Erica Shelton, Kevin Shelton and Brenda McCall, Loran MacMillan Morahan, Katie MacMillan); cousins, Anne Grisham, Bill Grisham, Scott Craig and Lora Scott, as well as several grand nieces and nephew.

Golf was Gary's passion from his early years, taught by his Uncle Max Grisham; he had 6 holes in one. Was a player on the Centennial High School golf team with George Lott from Freshman year to Senior year and the team went to State Championship match 1964 and 1965 (Gary’s graduating year). He served proudly in the U.S. Air Force for 3 years 8 months and 22 days during the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged in 1970.

Think of a good time with Gary and smile, that is what he would want. The collective mind in the universe just got better because a genius joined it. Listen to any John Prine song and think of Gary because he loved his music. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced shortly via this link.
