Julia Ethleen Farley Butler passed away peacefully at Baptist Hospice House, March 2, 2015. Born December 12, 1925 in Cordova, TN, daughter of Forrest R. and Mozelle Reid Farley; she leaves a brother, William S. (Nancy) Farley and a large loving family. Mrs. Butler was the devoted wife of Harry L. Butler, beloved mother of 4 children, Norma (Roger) Powell, LaVerne (Tim) Wood, Forrest (Mary) Butler and Hal (Elaine) Butler, grandmother of 8, Scott Powell, Eric Powell, Daina Wood, Kristen (Matthew) Cox, Jennifer Butler, Haley (Matthew) Crabtree, Julietta Butler, and Melissa Butler; great-grandmother to one, Shawn Crabtree. It was Ethleen’s greatest joy to play piano and organ to honor her Lord. This she did from an early age at Cordova Baptist Church, later as Pianist for Bible Study Fellowship meetings and all church functions at Berclair Baptist Church for over 60 years. Her years of service as a BSF discussion leader and as a Sunday School teacher set a solid example to others of faithfulness and determination. She never gave up; her strength and tenacity, whether working in the kitchen or in the classroom, were well known. She passed those strengths on to her children by example. She will be greatly missed. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions be made to her beloved Berclair Baptist Church, 4584 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN 38122. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 8 at Family Funeral Care from 1 to 2 p.m. with services following at 2 p.m. The burial will take place at Reid Cemetery in Fisherville, TN.
