Anita Frances Dennis was born to parents Roy M. and Ethel Louise Frizzell on October 27, 1929, in Tulsa OK, and earned her butterfly wings on September 13, 2010 at the age of 80. Anita was a native Tulsan, having lived her entire life in Tulsa, with the exception of one year spent as a freshman at OSU in Stillwater. Anita was a 1947 graduate of Webster High School. She was of the generation where moms stayed at home, and was happy to be a homemaker for much of her life, but this did not stop her from touching many lives through her years of volunteer service at both The Tulsa Recreation Center for the Physically Limited as well as St. Francis Hospital. One of Anita's passions was butterflies, from the simple joy of watching them to the complexity of raising them. Anita loved butterflies and devoted much of her time to learning about and enjoying them. She was an active member of John Knox Presbyterian Church for many years, where she began attending when it was started on the Tulsa University campus. She loved to sing and was a member of the John Knox sanctuary choir for several years. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Women's Circles and was also a Sr. High youth sponsor. Anita's strength was specifically dis- played when she fought-and beat breast cancer, and was a breast cancer survivor for over 15 years. Anita was predeceased by her son, Steven A. Dennis, as well as her former husband Robert A. Dennis. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shari and Jim Gibson, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other loving family members: Ashley Gibson and Trish Bosley, Jeffrey Gibson, Adriane and Stevi Dennis, Meagan and Trinity Luck, Reese and Trenton Luck, Shelly Dennis Morgan and James Morgan. Anita will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Though at times it was an unsteady journey, they are grateful that she went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior. Arrangements are being handled by Moore's Southlawn Funeral Service, and a Memorial Service celebrating Anita's life will be held at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 2929 E 31st St., at 11 am, Wednesday, September 22, 2010. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges, 815 S. Utica; or The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street, 8th floor, New York, NY 10022. Moore's Southlawn Chapel 663-2233 share memories at www.moorefuneralcom
