Clayton Lee Proctor, Sr., 82, of Trinity, NC went home to be with the Lord at his home on July 17, 2019.
Clayton was born on December 10, 1936 to Clifford Proctor and Ruby Wiley Proctor.
Clayton attended High Point Central High School. He was a loving, dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Clayton was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Clyde Pearson Furniture for many years as an upholsterer. Clayton was also a great defender of the faith and the Word of God. He came to know the Lord as a young father and served the Lord for more than 56 years. He was a faithful, long-time member of Trulite Baptist Church where he was both a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. For many years, he wrote letters to the High Point Enterprise Letterbox both responding to letters that had been submitted and writing opinions of his own. He was well known for his testimony for Christ. A favorite passage he quoted often is Psalm 90:10: “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Clay Arnold Proctor.
Clayton is survived by wife, Norma Jean Self Proctor; his son Lee Proctor (Darlene); his daughter Traci Proctor-Wolfe (David); his three grandchildren, Joshua Proctor (Amber), Nathanael Proctor (Heather), and Reuben Proctor (Anna); and his two great-grandchildren, Hadley Proctor and Lucas Proctor.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale.
Funeral Services will be held at Trulite Baptist Church, 4001 Trulite Church Road, High Point, NC 27265 at 11:00 a.m. on July 20, 2019. Officiants are Rev. Jerry Whiteheart, Rev. Samuel Eaton, and Rev. Keith Letterman. Burial to follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
